Reading for Pleasure

The encouragement of reading for pleasure is a fundamental part of the 快色视频’s Juniors curriculum. Open from 8.30am to 4.30pm every day, the busy and well-stocked Colet Library offers a range of fiction for all ages, plus graphic novels, audiobooks, newspapers and magazines. We also house a wide range of non-fiction to support learning and encourage pupils鈥 interests.

Our full-time librarian and part-time library assistant have an extensive knowledge of children’s literature and encourage pupils to read often, widely and well.

Pupils come to the Library for one timetabled English lesson a week. Many of the pupils may also be found reading in the library during break and lunchtimes.

Multiple copies of major new titles are available upon publication as well as a good selection of new authors and updated copies of classics. Tailored reading suggestions are available for each year group, alongside more personailised suggestions from library staff and other pupils.

Regular author events are arranged to give the pupils an opportunity to ask questions of best-selling authors, to hear about their writing processes, and to take away a signed book.

World Book Week is celebrated with a range of activities, competitions and collaborative reading.
